hi,
since i try to sync my hp5550 with outlook 2003 under windows server
2003 with active sync 3.7.1
i got this message:
---
Synchronization cannot be started because this desktop computer could
not access necessary information. Please restart the computer.
-and-
Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log onto
the network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and
synchronize again.
---
i'm running an exchange server on this machine, but i olny want to sync
with my personal folder in outlook, though i tried to sync with
exchange but i dont need it anyway since i have all my stuff only in the
personal folder.
i never had an older version of active sync on this pc, but tried to
reinstall either outlook or activesync, both without success.
i also tried to save my personal folder with a password, but active sync
even dont ask me for this, the message seems to appear
earlier.

has anyone an idea, i couldn't find anything yet...

thanks,

wolfgang

Hello

PocketPC synchronizes with an OUTLOOK client. EXCHANGE SERVER is not related.
With what are PocketPC and the personal computer connected? Although it is easy if it is USB, IrDA (infrared rays), or a serial
port, it becomes somewhat complicated when the network is being used. You have to confirm file sharing of Microsoft Network and
NetBIOS.

they're usually connected via USB, i've tried serial port as well but that
doesn't work either.
what do you mean with confirming file sharing of network and netbios?
is that necessary for a usb connection?

It contributes to the newsgroup of PocketPC simultaneously.

The thing of NetBIOS is unrelated if it has connected by USB.
Can it access from PocketPC to the Internet via a personal computer?

Hi,
If your PC can access the internet and you are NOT using a proxy then you
can access the internet with the Pocket PC 2002 or later.

Hi,
As for synchronizing Outlook, did you install ActiveSync after Outlook?  You
may want to reinstall it.
