I tried posting about this before, but the reply did not help.
I have a Dell Axim X3, recently reformatted and updated bios and software
from Dells site, which resolved a problem where the ActiveSync connection
would drop during syncronization.
Things worked great, syncing between home (XP, SP2) and work (W2K, SP4) and
then both computers started to refuse to see the existing partnership.
I would connect and sync on either one, but next time I tries to sync, the
connection would only come up as Guest. Rebooting the PC or soft-resets of
the PPC did not help.
I have tried deleting all partnerships multiple times.
I can connect and create new partnership on one PC. Even before attempting
the dual partnership on the other, the first PC will not recognize the
partnership just created.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Would definitely prefer not to
have to do another hard reset on the PPC if possible.
Thanks.

Did you restore from a backup made before the ROM upgrade for the X3?

No, I didn't do that.
The PPC and ActiveSync worked just fine for several weeks, and then this
started happening. In the mean time, the original back-up was overwritten.
I vaguely recall a KB article several years ago, when I was using an Ipac,
but I cannot find it in the Knowledge Base.

Rob, I think I did this and now I can't sync up. And when it tries the
partnership of pocket_pc it says it in use already. but I have none of that
name.
What can i do??? I did restore from a previous backup after the rom update.

Perform a hard reset and start from scratch - that is the only way.
You cannot restore from a backup after a ROM upgrade.
