I received a new iPAQ hp4705 PPC (OS: Pocket PC 2003) for Christmas.  Very nice unit, but I cannot sync it with my Compaq Evo N800C laptop running W2K Pro.  I keep getting the 'Attention Required' when it tries to sync with Outlook.

I've tried removing/reinstalling ActiveSync several times, soft resetting the iPAQ, contacting HP customer support, etc.  I've even reinstalled Outlook 2002, per suggestion of the accompanying CD-ROM.

The unit will sync properly with the family desktop (OS:WinXP home), but this isn't the machine I intend to use with the iPAQ.

The laptop does not have a software firewall, is running Novell network software for connection with my school system.

I've read through the material here, on HP's support site and MS's support site, but don't find any solutions that will work.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you running Groupwise on the computer by any chance?

No, no groupware.  I can get it to sync with a newer WinXP machine, but not this one.

Can you try the following (in the order listed below):
1. Uninstall Outlook, reboot
2. Reinstall Outlook
3. Install all updates from http://office.microsoft.com
4. Reinstall ActiveSync
