Windows explorer problems Ipaq 2215

All of a sudden I am having problems with using Windows explorer on my 2215's.

I sync one of them on a Windows 2000 system. I click on Explorer and can see
the files on the PDA. However, I no longer can drag and drop files to the PDA.
I can copy and then paste files, but drag/drop to the PDA shows the circle
with a line symbol.

I sync the other one on a Windows XP pro system. I click on Explorer and am
unable to see anything on the PDA.

Can anyone give me any hints as to what might be the problem?

Can you try reinstalling ActiveSync, then try dragging and dropping
the files.

I installed 3.8 on the XP system and that took care of that problem. I can now
see files on the PDA and do drag/drop.

I installed 3.8 on the Win2K system and drag/drop still does not work.
Everything else appears to be working. Activesync syncs file, mightysync syncs
files on the SD, and so on. Copy/paste from the PC HD to anywhere on the PDA
using the clipboard works. However, any try using any type of file from
anywhere on the PC HD to anywhere on the PDA using drag/drop (both left click
and right click) is blocked.

This was working up until a couple of weeks or so ago. About the only changes
made of which I am aware where auto updates to the system and msn messenger
updates. I have searched google and the KB with no success.

The PDA is being used with MS reader for some ebooks. But that has been
installed for several months??

I am out of ideas as to where to look next.

Hrmmm... can you run a quick scan for spyware? If you don't have a
spyware check program, Microsoft has it's beta version of its
AntiSpyware program available for free.

Too other posters on microsoft.public.pocketpc have suggested a workaround
that does allow me to drag/drop (they are having the same problem). Open one
instance of explorer and hightlight any PDA folder name. Open a second
instance of explorer and drag (either right or left click) to the first
instance. The system will allow a drop on any PDA folder name, but will not
allow a drop inside the folder (split screen folder name on left, contents on
right). Hence, so long as I am dropping on a previously highlighted folder
name it works. It does not work if I try to drop in the contents window.

I use Ad-Aware from Lavasoft and have not seen anything strange. Given that
two others have noted the same thing suggests that it is not limited to
something on my system. Strange however, I can drop to the content window on
my XP system with a different 2215.
