I have a user that was syncing with home + work but now will be working
between 2 branches and will need to sync between those 2 branches:
branch1(work) + branch2.
I installed A/S on Branch2 and in trying to create the partnership with more
than 1 computer it recognized that there were already 2 computers the ppc was
syncing with and I needed to delete one (at this time is was home + work) so
I deleted the home computer. so, apparently the user had been having sync
probs with branch1 so I reinstalled A/S but when attempting to sync it is
telling me that I cannot sync email even though Branch2 was setup to not sync
email. What can I do to resolve this? The user is getting her calendar,
contacts, & tasks just not email.
The end result I want is to sync email on Branch1 and just Cal, Contacts, &
tasks to Branch2.
I did read about needing to use the same name for the partnership.
I did not specify a partnership name and just let the configuration process
do this and kind of assume that the process would maintain the appropriate
settings based on my choice of configuring with 2 pcs.
When creating the partnership with more than 1 pc do I need to have a
primary installation then install to the second which would have been Branch2?

Hi Irene,

ActiveSync will sync Inbox of the first partnered computer.  Since you want
to sync Branch1 Inbox, I suggest you first delete the partnership and then
attach your device to setup the partnership again.  You can choose to sync
only with the Branch1 computer, this will delete all earlier partnerships on
the device.  The information on the device will not be lost.

Once you have setup the Branch1 computer, connect the device to your Branch2
computer and follow the wizard.  For more information about multiple
partnerships and their limitations refer --

Can you let know if I am understanding you correctly?
So, it is important to install A/S & create a partnership to the computer I
want to sync email with first.
What I am not entirely clear on is your recommendation: I should configure
that first computer to sync only with that computer then the 2nd I would
configure to sync with 2 computers. Is that correct?
Also do I need to make sure that both computers are using the same name for
the partnership?

Yes.

The partnership entries are stored in the registry of your PPC.  When you
select the optoin to only with that computer, it will reset the registry
entries so when you connect on your 2nd computer, you will not be prompted
about the PPC having two partnership and delete one to continue.

You don't have to bother about the name, the partnership wizard will do it
for you.
