I received the Ipac back from my son and want to reset it
up on my computer but no longer have and of the info or
discs to set it back up.  Have downloaded active-sinc but
the wizard does not set up a partnership?  When put the
Ipac in the cradle to sinc both go thru the connecting
tones.  The Ipac retries several times and the computer
gives a message saying not connecting for 1 of 2 reasons,
devise not properly connected or not a Pocket PC.  Any
suggestions? using USB

Hello Becky,

* Did you try performing a soft reset?
* Are you running any firewall software on the desktop?

Yes, I have done a soft reset and a hard reset.  I think I
checked the firewalls and activesync is checked as an
exception.  When I first plugged everything in it did not
ask me to set up a partnership - and the PC says no
partnerships.  When I look in the USB Device manager is
sees the  IPAQ in a seperate file from the other generic
USB ports as Windows CEUSB Devise.  What else can I tell
you to help resolve this problem?  Thanks for your help! Becky

Hi Becky,

Which firewall software are you using ?  Try shutting the firewall for a
short while and check if it syncs successfully.

Raj,  Thank you, that worked I shut off the firewall and it
ask me to set up a partnership and everything synced like
it should.  I use windows security firewall.  Now will I be
able to go back and turn the firewall back on?  I am afraid
to do that for fear it will not sync again.  At least I
know how to get it to now I guess.  Thanks Again!
Becky

Hello Becky,

The firewall must be blocking the ports that ActiveSync uses for
communicating with the Pocket PC.  Refer to the following page and make sure
you include the ActiveSync applications under the exception list:
