All was working perfectly well for ages, now my ActiveSync (3.8) suddenly
only connects to my iPaq 4150 as Guest.

I have tried:

1. Deleting partnership, then renaming device. Syncs OK first time through,
then when device is put in cradle next time, same problem, only connects as
Guest!

2. Uninstalled ActiveSync 3.0, restarted PC, re-installed ActiveSync 3.8.
Again, partnership established ok first time through, but subsequently only
connects as Guest!

I use XP Pro, and am fully up-to-date with all Windows Updates etc.

I have made no changes at all to the PC. ie. It was fine last night, then
switched it on again this morning and this problem has arisen! So
frustrating!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Kind regards
Dan

Hi,
You may want to try using regsrv msxml3.dll

Also, there's a list of known issues and solutions at

Also you may have to check if the USB cable is connected directly to a port
on your computer or to a USB HUB - sometimes the power in the HUB is not
enough to complete a connection.

Also check that you don't have personal firewall software with High security
enabled without having rules to allow ActiveSync to talk to other
applications or network.

Thanks for your suggestions...but I found the 'solution'...

...it appears as though there was not enough 'free memory' on the iPaq, as
when I freed up some memory, by deleting a few big files, the problem went
away!

I hope this helps other with this frustrating problem!

Thanks again.

Kind regards

Dan

If this is the case, and if you browse the Internet with Pocket Internet
Explorer, make sure to clear its cache from time to time...
