OK - using Activesync 3.8, Widows XP with Ipaq 2215. Could sync fine until
last week and it just quit. I've soft reset Ipaq, uninstalled and
reinstalled Activesync 3.8 (even tried 3.7.1 again), deleted partnership
(now can't add one either). Nothing seems to work. PC recognizes the HP
connection but activesync doesn't.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John
Hi john,
* Are you running any firewall or anti-virus software?
* Did you install any application on your desktop since you last successful
sync?

Hi Raj,
I am having similar problem with Ipaq 3850. Device manager shows a problem
with ipaq usb sync driver and an error code 43. With serial port it will
sync but wants to create new partnership. Running McAfee firewall and
anti-virus but no changes that I know of to software.
Thanks
Mike

Hello Mike,
Try doing the following:
1. Click Start, then click Run. Type the following:
devmgmt.msc
Click Ok. This should open up the device manager.
2. Connect your Pocket PC via USB and you should see
an entry at the bottom Windows CE USB Devices.
3. Right-click and uninstall the entry for the PPC.
4. Remove the device and reboot computer.
5. Perform a soft reset and connect the device.

Hi Raj,
I did as you recommended and ActiveSync still shows not connected and
DeviceManager shows error 43. I tried hooking up to serial port and
that will connect. Also tried both original cradle and Belken cable,
neither work on USB. I did a successfull backup on serial. What should
I do next?
Thank you,
Mike

Hi Raj,
I uninstalled ActiveSync 3.8, rebooted then reinstalled ActiveSync. I
did a soft reset on the Ipaq and when propted I plugged in my Ipaq. The
task bar showed new hardware found and identified it as my Ipaq, but
Activesync shows no connection. I ran the get connected wizard and USB
shows as available, but it will not find my Ipaq. What should I do
next?
Thank you,
Mike

I'm having the exact same problem. I just got a new laptop and installed
ActiveSync 3.8 from the website. My USB is also available but will not
connect. Hope someone can come up with some help!

Here is what worked for me, I tried a hard reset on the Ipaq and it did
work. I now have USB working. I used the serial connection to sync and
then a full backup before resetting my Ipaq. It takes a hard reset then
a soft reset to restart the Pocket PC. I reconnected the USB and took
off the serial connection and restarted my PC. I did not setup a new
partnership but connected as guest and then restored form the backup
and it is working like it used to.
Good Luck,
Mike
