I really do not want to have Outlook as my 'default' e-mail client.
I set Outlook to be my default application for e-mail, contacts, etc etc.
Then I go into outlook express and set that as the defaul e-mail client.
When I activesync, although the sync works, I get an error state:
"Activesync encoutered an error with the desktop.
Support code: 85010014"
Does anyone know where I can find out exactly what this error means and can
anyone help me get around the insistence on Outlook being the default e-mail
application?
You know, I can live with the fact that MS wants to discriminate in favour
of its own products but to discriminate _against_ one of its own products
seem a little odd.

I just had this problem (it looks like it might be caused by using two PC's
one with exchange). Anyways the solution that worked for me was to go in
outlook and change the profile name (edit profiles and click more settings).
After the change I restarted my PC and every thing worked

Hi Paul,
Did you have the same profile name on both the PCs? I just want to confirm
the problem and the solution.

Sorry to be a newbie about this but exactly where is the edit profiles
setting in Outlook? I can't seem to find it.

Hi,
It's under Start - Settings - Control Panel - EMail. Then click on
Profiles. You can copy the profile with a new name and then select the
correct profile to open as the default. Then you can delete the old profile
