Hi
My company here will not allow us to install our own programs onto our PC,
and they will only support ActiveSync ver 3.5.

I usually sync my PocketPC with my own personal PC at home using the latest
version of ActiveSync ver 3.8. I tried sync in the office but it won't allow
me.

Is there anyway I can go back, install an other version onto my PocketPC so
I can eventually sync with my office?
Thanks

Derek,

It is not possible to change the version of ActiveSync on your device.
Which device do you currently have?  And what error message do you receive
when you attempt to sync at work?

Hi Raj

Thank you for ur reply.
I am using a HP PocketPC iPAQ2200, running on Windows CE 4.20.

The error message i got on my PocketPC is:
"An incompatible version of Microsoft ActiveSync software has been detected.
Synchornization has been disabled. Upgrade ActiveSync on your desktop
computer and reconnect."

Is there any way around this problem? My company is rather tough and they
will not update/upgrade the ActiveSync (due to some support issue).
Look forward to hear from u again soon.
Wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Regards
Derek

Hi Derek,

Sorry, but you will need to upgrade the version of ActiveSync on the
desktop.  Suggest you take a look at the sites Chris has pointed to earlier
and make a request to upgrade.

Happy New Year to you too !!

Thanks Raj

Will it work with ActiveSync V3.7.1?

Hi Derek,

Yes, AS 3.7.1 should work.  I believe that is the version that the OEM ships
on the CD along with the device.

Hi,
Your company should be aware that there are known security risks with
earlier versions of ActiveSync.

See http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/securityadvisories.htm

Also, to support newer devices ActiveSync also requires an upgrade.  See
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesyncversions.htm
