Activesync 4.1 Reliability - Green spin but no action

My Active Sync 4.1.0 (Build 4841) has become unreliable. Often when the
device is connected via the USB to the Notebook it will display
"Connecting" but no connection will result. Often it will say "Connected"
but error out on Synchronizing as it was not really connected. Often
powering my Mobile device down and up a few times would get the Active Sync
going again. I have most success when Active Sync is seen to allocate an
IP address in the Task Bar and you get a "Windows Mobile-based Device #3"
connection for "Local Area Connection 6" under Network Connections. But the
IP allocation is no guarantee to successful connection however.

Been checking out some of the Activesync Logs under C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp

WCESLog.log shows:

WCESCOMM.LOG shows:

No idea what all this means - I guess it may explain why my Activesync Green
Circle keeps spinning and display "Connecting" without joy?

Hi Muhith,

I am in no way going to help you because I have a similar problem.

But I would like to know:

1. What device are you using?
2. Can you set your alarm on and off?

I really believe that this is a AS on WM5 fault. I have no proof, but all
trails lead here.

I do not seem to have issues with the built-in alarm but 3rd part alarms are
another story as they will not sound when the device is in sleep mode,
defeating the purpose of the alarm which only activates when the device is
switched on next.

Hi,
Do you have a software firewall installed?  It looks like something is
blocking ActiveSync from making the connection.

I am using the i-mate K-JAM ala QTEK 9100 running the latest ROM updates and
Windows Mobile 5.0. I am using running Norton Internet Security 2005 but
disabling this momentarily does not appear to make a difference.

I'd uninstall Internet Security completely and try it (get rid of firewall,
virus protected, anything).  I use an iMate KJam and it works fine with AS
4.1 and Windows XPSP2, generally.  Something non-standard is in your way and
Norton is the king of that hill.

I have a problem too... My C600 used to work fine with Activesync 4.1. Until
one day when it failed working, it froze and I had to hard reset it. Still it
wouldn't work. It would remain stuck on "Looking for changes". I tried just
about anything. I thought it was due to Norton Antivirus 2006. I formatted my
PC, reinstalled Windows XP Professional with SP2 + all updates from Windows
Update site. I did not install any firewall or antivirus and also I disabled
the Windows Firewall. Still I cannot synchronize. This time I get "No
partnerships. Not connected" although the Activesync icon is green as if
connected. I cannot browse my device, I cannot do anything. And all this
happens on a fresh install of Win Xp and on a factory-default SPV C600. This
in unbelievable.

I also get the following error in my Activesync log:
03/31/2006 23:01:28.640 - IrUtil: IrDA socket cannot be created, error code
10047.

I cannot synchronize at all... even if I reinstall a thousand times...
Any solutions?
