Stuck on Synchronizing

Hi All,

I have searched high and low and have done lots to try to rectify this
problem, but no go and its driving me nuts! :(

Ok, some history; I have an HP Ipaq hx4700 and up until 2 days ago I had
Activesync 4.1 and Windows Mobile 2003 and everything was fantastic! But,
then I was silly enough to update my ipaq to Windows Mobile 5.0 (if it ain't
broke' dont fix it). My laptop is win xp pro sp2.

Ok, so now when I stick the ipaq in the cradle, it connects ok, but sits on
'synchronizing' (left it overnight even). I have tried lots!

~Re-installing activesync
~Soft & Hard resets on the ipaq
~Re-creating activesync profiles
~Run the whole way through the microsoft troubleshooter for 4.0 and 3.x
~I have changed firewall settings/permissions
~I have changed network settings

I am really jack of this, I have 'upgraded' and it simply wont work.

Please, I am begging for help!

Thanks in advance,

Christian

Hi,
When you plug in the 4700 is it recognized  in the device manager?  Do you
see the green ActiveSync icon spin?  Did the PC prompt you to setup a
partnership the first time you connected it?

Hi Chris,

Yes it recognizes the device and I have re-created the partnership a few
times now. The green icon spins and doesn't stop spinning while it just sits
on 'synchronizing'.

Thanks,

Christian

Hi,
Did you try configuring any software firewall to allow ActiveSync to connect
to the internet?

Take a look at
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x-connection.htm which
covers all the steps to making a connection.

Hi Chris,

Well, do I feel stupid. I fixed it by initiating the sync from the PDA and
not from the machine (I didnt do that on WM2003 with AS 3.x)  and its all
good now... talk about over troubleshooting!!

Thanks for your help anyway!
