I use an O2 XDA Exec (http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec.html) with Windows Mobile
5.0 on it. I also use ActiveSync 4.1 to synchronise the information on it
with my laptop and this has worked perfectly until just recently. The
programme will immediately begin synchronisation once I have connected the
USB cable and provided the password but the problem is that, as soon as
sychronisation is complete, ActiveSync then disconnects automatically.

The problem with this is that it leaves very little opportunity to move
files around manually or synchronise with Windows Media Player. I'm sure I
used to be able maintain the connection until I removed the USB plug and I
wondered whether anyone here knows how to prevent the automatic
disconnection? Please also tell me if this entirely the wrong place to
present this question as I have absolutely no idea where to find the answer.

Hi,
ActiveSync 4.x like older versions automatically connects when you plug in
the USB cable/cradle.  Then after entering the password, it synchronizes.
However with ActiveSync 4.x, there is no user control to specify whether or
not to manually connect.

Have you tried a soft reset of the unit? Does it only disconnect from
ActiveSync, or does it disconnect from the computer alotgether (ie it
no longer shows up in Device Manager)?
