hallo all,
this is important: i was in the Active Sync 4.0.0
file explorer, and clicked accidentally on a wrong, very important .xls
file. when i reallised it, i pressed undo, but nothing happened!! also in the
trashcan of winXP was nothing!! how can this be? so how can i get my lost
file back!?
also on my pocketpc its actually strange, when i delete a file, i cant get
it back! no undo, no trashcan, what a stupid OS!? i lost a lot of
workinghours because of that so far.
or do i just dont know how to use it? i tryed now since 2 hours to recover
this file, tryed about 6 different file-recovery-tools, but i couldnt get it
back. all the
tools are just for windows 9x/2000/nt/XP but not for windows mobile.
thanx a lot for input
p.s. i have the latest windows mobile, and a iPAQ (one of the most recent)
greets andreas

Basically unable to help you. I'm quite new to the PocketPC. However, from
what I've seen so far, my guess is that what happened to your file on the
Windows box is that the local drive is being treated as a shared folder.
Files that are deleted via shares do not go to the trash, they don't pass
Go, and they don't even collect $200. They just disappear.
As regards your general comments, I'm basically in agreement. This is my
third PDA, with the last one being a Palm device. Overall, the PocketPC
seems like an alpha release from bored and lazy hobbyists, not the fifth
major release from a supposedly professional software company. I can only be
dazzled by Microsoft's success in inducing Palm to commit suicide. The
punchline is that Microsoft is probably still losing money on this
thing--but they don't actually care. Just too bad that Palm's pockets were
not infinitely deep.

don't get your hopes up, but, there is an activeysnc backup directory
which _may_ be an option... and search your sync computer's hard driver
for the exact spelling of your device name and, when found, look for a
backup folder
_do not sync again until you run this search_
