Since applying the security updates June 19th to my Exchange Server server I
can no longer sync my WM5.0 Verizon VX6700 either through USB connection to
my desktop or remotely through wireless sync. (all worked fine before the
updates were applied).  I tried upgrading to ActyiveSync 4.1 (no change so I
reverted to Version 4.0)  We never used SSL.  The sync seems to start (so it
can connect to the server) but never completes the exchange server sync
without getting the sync error 86000108.  Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Wow - same problem here!  If I find the solution I will post it.

Hi,
Here's what I know from
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/exchange_errors.php:

Problem:
"ActiveSync encountered a problem on the server." The device is missing the
root digital certificate that is installed on the server.. This is known to
have occured with a Verisign digital certificate.

Solution:
Install the Verisign digital certificate on the Windows Mobile 5.0 device.

Since you are not using SSL, I suspect that the patches are requiring you to
do so.  Your decision not to use SSL allows anyone on the internet to
capture your data and read it since it is not encrypted.

Dave,

We were having the exact same problems as you.  After talking with
Microsoft support I found that a restart of the IIS services on the
front end servers resolved the problem and activesync has been working
without a problem for a couple weeks now.

Hope that help
Randy

How does that work?  Do I restart my handheld? or my computer?

I have done both and no luck
