Activesync 4.2 will not install on my Averatec 6240 laptop (running
Windows XP Home Edition SP 2). I've tried turning off various non-MS
services (including running it in diagnostics mode). I've hunted
through for various well-known applications that commonly get in the
way and none are running. I've renamed the setup.exe file is_setup.exe.
The error I get is that it stops when configuring the installer, and
then I get a pop-up that says "The wizard was interrupted before
Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2 could be completely installed". It wants me to
Click finish to exit the wizard. Currently I'm leaving it in that state
for a while (hours) because I've heard there is a similar false
indication for installs. I am REALLY close to spending a few days
wiping the drive and re-installing everything from scratch. Anyway, any
help would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, various temp files have been cleared as well.

Any chance you've upgraded your installer? I believe Activesync needs an
upgraded installer to install.

If the installer gets updated w/ the standars MS updates then yes. I
also ran through updateing MS with basically whatever MS wanted to
update.

I'm having the same problem.  I've tied installing both versions 4.2 and 4.5
and as soon as I kick off the installation, I get the same message.  I'm on
XP MCE with the Outlook 2007 beta installed.  I've been trying to get any
kind of response from MS for three days now to no avail.  HELP
