Hi everyone,
I have a small question : I'm using ActiveSync 4.5b to synchronize my
PC with my SPV C600 (under Windows Mobile 5). Everything use to work
fine since I tried to install a software on the SPV that crashed
ActiveSync. Since that, I was not able to get ActiveSync working fine,
it's always stuck on "Retrieving Settings". I thought that might be a
problem of ActiveSync and after uninstalling / reinstalling it a couple
of times, I finally tried downgrading to 4.2. But this won't just work,
traditionnal issue of the "an more recent version is already installed
on the system" ... Any idea how to make it work ?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Maximilien

Have you gone to Control panel, add remove software | and tried to uninstall
ActiveSync from there? You need to reboot after uninstalling it there. Then
run the setup program again? That's always worked in the pass for me when I
wanted to downgrade.

Hi,
Pretty similar to David's suggestion. I usually just run the setup file
again and it prompts with the repair or uninstall option and proceed to
uninstall. In your case, try the following after uninstalling ActiveSync
4.5 BETA2:
On the PC, Click Start -> Run and type:
%systemroot%\System32
Click Ok or enter. It should open up your System32 directory. Look for a
file "rapi.dll" and delete it.
Proceed to install the ActiveSync 4.2 version now. See if this suggestion
helps.
