Time Zone Question

Hi.

I have 2x Pocket WM5 active syncing with an Exchange 2003 (SP2). Both
devices are identical however, one displays appointments 1 hour out of sync
with the server (and his desktop). All time zones appear to be correct and
each is setup identically.

Any clues?

It could be that one of them thinks that it's on Daylight Saving Time and
the other does not.  There's a flag in the system for this.  I think that,
if you manually change the date and time and make sure that you've selected
the right time zone, the device should reevaluate whether the flag should be
set or not and get it right.  Plain Windows CE does that, anyway.  You could
just set the date back to yesterday, select OK, accept the changes, if it
asks you, then immediately return to the date/time applet and set the date
back to today.

If you're programmer, you could read the state of the flag from the device
registry or via a call to GetTimeZoneInformation(), or set it manually by
calling SetDaylightTime().

Thansk for your reply Paul.

I cannot find the DST settings tab on the JasJam - where is on the CE version?

Sorry, also not a programmer...

There isn't one, unfortunately.  The DST setting on a PPC is automatic,
depending on which Time Zone you've selected in the clock app. I.e. if
you select London, the PPC switches to DST whenever it's DST in London.
Unfortunately you can't choose to ignore DST by unticking a box, like on
the desktop, unless there's a place in your time zone that ignores DST
year-round.  Using the London example again, Casablanca is in the same
time zone as London, but doesn't observe DST, so selecting Casablanca as
your time zone on the PPC would be the equivalent of selecting London on
the PC and unchecking the "observe DST" box.  Unfortunately, however,
there isn't a "Casablanca" in each time zone to use in this way.
