Hi,

I'm using a Dell Axim x51v and can't get WMP10 to detect the device.
(Active Sync works fine).  Does anyone know whether this is a known problem
with Windows Media Player 10, or have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

I have a x51v and was able to initially sync my device thru WM10.  However, I
have not been able to have WM recognize my device since I installed the
Yahoo Music Engine last night.  It also uses WM10 as its engine so I wonder
it disabled the partnership in the registry.  I've already reinstalled WM10
once without any effect.  Will uninstall Yahoo and see what happens.

I had a similar problem as giofiocci.  I was able to sync my x51v with
WM10 once. After that, WM10 won't recognize my device. I did not
install Yahoo, though. I had put an SD card in the device between sync
attempts, though.

Any luck for anyone else?

I have a Axim x51 and I'm having the same problem.  It doesn't even know its
there and it never has.  I have a 1GB SD card in it and the only way I can
get music on it is file sharing.  Haven't figured out playlists at all....
I'm so confused...

YES!  Having the same problem here, only diff. is I'm using a new iPAQ 1955.
Nothing but problems -- not only software incompatibility (with WM5.0), but I
also just put a 1GB SD card in, and went to sync some music -- only to find
WMP10 cannot find the device!  Reset w/ F5 does nothing.

Tried to go back to WMP9 -- but of course the system will not allow older
software to be installed -- shut me down.

Maybe the installation of the SD card is an issue?  This is insane.  Has
anyone figured this out yet?

Sorry if this sounds unhelpful, but smart people figured out a long
time ago that WMP sucks, so we don't use it.

If you run a firewall and ActiveStink 4, you could try following the
steps specific to your firewall here - http://tinyurl.com/c85d3. Even
though AS may appear to be working itself, and the troubleshooter
doesn't specifically mention WMP, likely the same underlying
communications issues are in play.
WM10 & Jasjar sync issue - 23 Nov 2005 14:50 GMT
Hi All,

I had the same problem with a jasjar imate. Apparently the problem is cause
by installing media player 10 after active sync. Resolution basically to
repair active syn installation as some files are not copied when media player
10 is not present.

I had the same problem that you all described.

I was able to fix it by repairing "microsoft active sync" under "add/remove
programs". using this link that someone suggested:

FYI.

Repairing the Active Sync installation worked for me!  Thank you very much!

I have an Axim x51v, with A04 installed, Active Sync 4.1.0. I turned off
Windows Firewall, removed the CF card, did a soft reset and WMP 10 still
doesn't recognize the Axim. I am directly connected via USB. Anybody from
Microsoft care that 3 of their products don't play well together (Active
Sync, WMP 10 and Windows Mobile A04) This post has been on the board for a
month and still no response from MS

Sorry for posting w/no message.  Newbie.

I have an new RX1955 and have similar synch problems but have additional
playback problems beyond what has been mentioned in this thread.  WMP10/WM5
gives me scratchy digital noise instead of audio when I play back either a
WMA audio file or a WMV video file.  Video plays back fine.  MP3's play audio
fine.  Anyone else having problems with WMA or WMV audio playback?
On advice from an iPAQ forum I've also installed the TCPMP video player.
I'm getting similar results with it: video + digital noise.
