Windows Mobile 5.0 with messaging and security feature pack  OS5.1.342 (build
15096.3.0.0)  Widows mobile media ver 10.3 buid 15096

i'm using an SPV M700 on Orange and am having problems getting music media
into the library.  When I first got the phone i transferred some musc to the
sd card, went into library, update library and the files added ok and
displayed in artist, album, genre etc.
Today the library was suddenly empty and trying to add music manually, it
finds the files but stops halfway through adding them and shows an error
saying the storage card library is write protected and cannot accept new
entries.  The storage card is a mini SD and has no write protect feature on
it as far as i can see.
I can play all the music files but i have to add them to the play list
manually everytime which is really annoying.

Any help much appreciated

I am having a similar problem. For several months Media Player 10 worked
fine, then recently it has stopped recognizing the existence of a library on
my storage card. Media files are recognized on the storage card when scanned,
but do not appear in any library. In the drop-down menu under "Library" the
only choice is " My Device", even though there is a storage card present and
all other programs recognize it. Something changed recently to cause this. I
use Mobile 5 (OS5.1.195, Build 14955.2.3.0 and Media Player v 10.2, Build
14955.

I hope someone can help solve this problem, Thanks, ...tj

I encountered this problem from time to time. And, need to perform the
following steps:

1. Go to "Start" and then to your "File Explorer"
2. Select "Storage Card"
3. From "Menu", check the "Show All Files"
4. Delete the "MSMETADATA" folder
5. Do a soft reset.
6. Then go to your "Windows Media" program
6. Depending on your last exit WM, you may need to select "Menu", then
"Library"
7. Select "Update Library"
8. When finiz, select "Done"

The above steps should solve your problem. That folder "MSMETADATA" is an
empty folder, and it will automatically appear back in your storage card
after the soft reset. You may wish to return to File Explorer and uncheck
"Show All Files".

I also ran into this problem yesterday on my new ATT 8525 w/miniSD & got real
frustrated. Just tried your solution (saw it elsewhere in this forum too) and
it fixed the problem! Many thanks!!
