Hi,

I have a new Dell Axim MP3 Pocket PC.  It has Pocket PC 2003 on it.

I am trying to copy MP3s from my desktop to my pocket pc via the
cradle that is provided by Dell.  I found a Dell Knowledge Base
article that explains how to load the mp3, document titled "How do I
Load and Listen to MP3 Files on My Dell Axim Handheld?" article
1072909.

The instructions read:
1. From your computer, click the start button, point to programs, then
click on Microsoft ActiveSync.  The Microsoft ActiveSync program
window appears.

2. Click the explore icon in the Microsoft ActiveSync program window.
The mobile device window appears.

3. Double-click the My PocketPC icon.  The My PocketPC folder appear.

4.  Double-click the Program Files folder.

5. Double-click the windows media player folder.  The windows media
player folder appear.

6.  And so on...

I am getting stuck at step 3, I do not have a 'My PocketPC' icon on my
explorer window.  I have a 'Mobile Device' icon, but there is nothing
within it.  I have activesync 3.7.1 that I downloaded from MSFT's
site.  The regular activesync program appears to sync up correctly
with outlook, etc.  So I believe the USB connection is working
correctly.  Note: ActiveSync states that my USB connection is
connected (via File -> connection settings... within activesync)

Am I doing something wrong or missing the obvious?

Desktop: Intel 1.8Ghz, 512MB RAM, Windows XP Home with ALL the latest
patches.

Thanks in advance!

Andrew

Windows media player for PPC will play MP3 files.

Try starting your desktop media player - you will need version 9 for
with (supplied with XP), then selecting the files say as a playlist
then choose 'Copy to mobile device' from the windows media player
mensus.

This will cut out several steps, and your Axim will get the mp3s
placed in the My Documents folder.

Give me a shout again if it doesn't work, I'm doing this from memory
as my other machine is busy (this one has WMP7 which doesn't support
copy to device) and I haven't got time to check the exact procedure
tonight ;-)

HTH
Neil.
