i tried both servers on the same hardware. the helix server streams fine for
my dell axim 5 pocket pc (bitrate 260 or so, windows media 9 codec). the
windows media server has drop outs and stops very often. any hints for the
combination windows media server / pocket pc ?

No idea about that sorry. Are you streaming from a file or from the
encoder -> helix and encoder -> wmserver ?

You might want to see if lowering the bitrate for the windows server
has any effect, maybe there's an unanticipated overhead in the stream?

Cheers - Neil.

i'm streaming from a file. it is a wmv file which is encoded with the
microsoft encoder.

perhaps multiple bitrates will help, i'll try that.

ironically the videos on http://windowsmediamobile.theplatform.com/wifi.asp
work fine with my pocket pc. do they use the helix server ? ;-)
