No need to laugh. Cellular triangle is a well known positioning technology.
Not very accurate, but acceptable.
However, I don't know if someone has this available, and since you don't say
where you are from it is even more difficult.

Cingular has this capability, but will only use it with a court order.

Don't laugh too hard at all, the next KILLER APP... will be based on the
next generation PPC devices with built in GPS.
* loose or have your phone stolen, it'll call home (or a predetermined
location) and report where it is.
* When we get the finger print scanner, cops jobs will get easier... Device
will report fingerprint, how many times they tried to access the device, and
where they were and are when it's time to arrest them.
Big Brother aside, we are paying a hefty price for these devices, I want
mine back if it is stolen or lost. Big Brother knows far too many other
ways to find me, theis just makes it easier on me and them... ;-)

Hello,
I live in Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Now I'm checking "Cell profile" which is a good start, but I'm still looking
for something more "accurate" (I now this "cellular triangle" is not even
nearly as accurate as GPS but I don't need it)
I've been researching for "Cingular" but just the cell phone company is
showing, not any positioning software.
Are there any more developements about this?
Best regards

in this case, maybe someone at the forums of www.mipcdebolsillo.com can
answer for your own location. They are Spanish and know the market there
very well.
Saludos,
Helio

You can use Cell Profiler to learn where you are depending on the cell
viewed by your phone. You can then change your profile depending if you
are at work, at home, etc.
