I have looked and looked and can not find an answer.  I have a new PPC
6700 running WM 5.0.  I am trying to connect to Terminal Servers over
the the Sprint Vision network (internet).  All I get is time outs and
no connections.  I have even tried to connect using a wireless lan and
get the same message.  Surely I dont need to VPN into networks to get
to the terminal server.  Someone please set me straight.  BTW I have
tried TS 2000 server and 2003 server.

Are these servers available from the internet or are they on a private lan?

Thanks for the response.  They are available both on Internet and have
been running fine for a long time.  I can connect to them via PC over
the Internet on a regular basis.

One the server, check your logs to see if the requests made it from
your PPC to your server.  The ports used may be blocked by your
carrier.

There is a free tool for PocketPCs called vxUtil that you can use to
test a lot of network functionality from your PPC:

Thanks for the tip.  Nice little utility.  I did a port scan on 3389
port shows open.  So its not the carrier.  There should be no config on
the ppc right?  Just start terminal server client and type in address
and go?

OK checked the server logs no errors.  I dont think I am getting that
far, to the server that is.  I can ping the server from the mobile
device and I show port 3389 open.  I have tried several servers same
result, terminal server client time out.  I have tried connecting to
the wireless lan in the office and then trying to hit a local computer
same result.  A little frustrating although the vxUtil is pretty nice
to have.  Thanks.

sprint may block port 3389, not sure about that, that would be in line with
your server not getting hit though...

I have same phone and I VPN into SBS2003 server first, then launch TS client
to any machine on network

Works like a charm.
