I agree... it's a terrible policy... to access a pretty hostile site.
First... did you simply try to register the device at the stite?
I think the policy only kicks in if the previous owner registered their
iemi number, and, if that is the case, is there any possibility of
either using the previous owner's login or having them download the
software for you?
Tip... if you register at clubimate, be sure to use a "throwaway
password" so you can pass your logon together with the device.

Yeah, it's been registered before so is just a change of ownership really.
I don't see how this can have a financial impact that justifies a $60 charge
however. There a slight chance I might be able to contact the original
owner so I'll have to give that a go. If I had known, I probably wouldn't
have bought it.
Thanks

another mvp offers this... see, the mvp program does have value ;-)
ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/
It appears to have all rom builds, but didn't see the manuals nor the
provider settings cabs.

hi
I own an imate jasjar and have registered my device
if you need any files from the site then email me and I can get them for you
and email them along, if they aren't too large
I tried to help a friend who bought an imate jamin, and found that I couldnt
down load its manuals because my imate account doesnt contain a registered
jamin, so you will need to get access to the previous owner's account to
fully access all the resources for your device

Assume that was pointed at the OP as I still have an account for the pda2k.
I have been told that the provider settings cabs are available from
service providers and the manuals can normally be found on the cd that
ships with the device.
By comparison, it's still possible to download manuals for old ipaq's
from hp with no registration... which has a lot of long term positive pr
value.

While I agree its a crap policy of theirs I really wouldn't get too worked
up about it. The site is one of the worst sites I've tried to navigate
ever. You will be able to find rom updates on the web (xdadevelopers) site
usually have them. You really are better off not going to the imate site
and definatly not if you hafe to pay 60 squid.

Maybe HTC will provide decent support now that they are marketing
their devices and iMate is officially dropping support.
