Battery issue

Can anyone explain this?
Yesterday, although my battery was full in the morning and I hadn't used my
phone since it was in my car, the battery drained out around mid-day (it's a
new phone). Maybe this was due to the fact that I installed a trial version
of My|Phone and some settings could messed up and didn't let the phone turn
off after a phone call maybe. However, when I put the phone back to the
cradle and everything was gone of course, the backup battery was showing
100% full. Then why has the phone lost all information if the battery was
100% full?

Which phone?

There are a number of posibilities, but the most prevalent cause is a
button being pressed by the case or other pressure or a stuck button.

Others are;

An app, such as WMP, running in background

Battery/Power settings wrong

Some phones turn on when cell is detected... i.e. in a marginal
location, where signal comes/goes toggling device on each cycle.

Defective device

the phone is i-mate and I clearly understand the reason why this could
happen because it never happened before. My big question is the second part:
Since this happened, why was the backup battery showng 100% full? I checked
it around 30 secs right after I connected it to the cradle and it was
already showing messages about very low memory and cannot operate the device
unil battery is charged.

Really don't know why that would be the case, so it should be posted to
imate support.

That said, there are several different approaches to "backup battery"
which includes both a changable button battery and an internal
rechargable battery or capacitor.  In most cases the latter does not
have a "level" indicator, but I don't know imate... i.e. the i700 has
something that keeps ram alive when the batteries are changed, but it
does not have a level indicator for this.

Next, I personally don't like the Activesync backup... would strongly
suggest a "backup to memory card" utility which has the advantage of
getting you back in action when mobile.

...might also check the backup battery level after the unit is fully
charged and has been on for a few minutes... battery levels are not
constantly updated and will go for a minute or so after you turn the
device on before showing the actual state.

Thanks for comments and advice.
I certainly won't rely on AS backup any longer. Maybe I'll use it more
rarely but I will prefer to use the xBackup provided on i-mate to backup on
SD card. If that proves unreliable as well, maybe I will look for 3rd party
solution.

Thanks again!!
