Hi folks,

I was about to buy a CF Lan card for my IPAQ for when I'm in a place like
a hotel and they only offer a wired network when I began to wonder.  Is
there an inexpensive RJ45 to wireless dongle of some sort (besides a
router)which I could use instead of the wired card and not lose my
mobility in the room?

Thanks,
Bill

>> dongle <<

yep... they are called Access Points ;-)

The current crop of combo Cable Modem/Router/Access Points are small and
cheap (as low as $50) and I have used my AP just as you describe... even
allowed my wife to use the notebook while I used the PPC.

Would suggest that the motel connection be to one of the LAN ports
rather than the WAN port with the router configured to simply "pass
through" and allow the motel system to assign all ip's

Get one with an internal configuration web server as those requiring a
config utility on a pc will not be compatable with a ppc for setup.

Hope this helps...

Looks great... does anyone know if it has internal configuration server?
(looks likely as the cd contents doesn't reference a setup untility
specifically)

if your computer bag weighs a ton, I'm guessing that a laptop is
therein... so, if it has the ability to wifi and ethernet at the same
time, you can run ics and connect via adhoc.

ics allows a computer with an internet connection thorugh a modem or nic
card to "share" that connection using another nic card, so, motel
connection using the ethernet connection, ics sharing out the wifi card.
