Hello all. Hopefully someone has an answer to this one.
I am serving my system on WindowsTS over the Internet and
I access it through Internet Explorer on all of my client
machines. When they first connect, an ActiveX control is
downloaded so that they can view thew desktop remotely.
PocketPC Internet Explorer does not support this feature
and I really need to figure out a way to access my TS
over the Internet using my PocketPC since there is no
dial-in access on the server. The TS Client that comes
with it is only if you are dialed into the network (I
think). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.
That's true, there is no web based TSC for the PocketPC.
If you can connect your PocketPC to the public internet via a dial-up telephone link or a network
connection of some sort (ie. wireless 802.11b or wired ethernet) *AND* the target server(s) can be
accessed from the public internet through a firewall/NAT/router then you can use the built-in TSC
client of the PPC. I do that using a 56K dial modem on my iPAQ to access XP Pro boxes running behind
my home firewall via a VPN tunnel. Note you can only use the default TCP Port 3389 with the PPC TSC
client. So if the server(s) need to be addressed using another port, than the default TCP Port 3389,
you may be out of luck. One solution to that problem is to use a VPN link as I describe.
