I have used a number of iPAQs and Dell with Orinoco/Proxim access points and
have not had problems with them. In fact it is my impression that
Orinoco/Proxim access points are one of the better ones for supporting the
PocketPC.
What happens if you hard reset your device, and re-install the programs, not
restore?

Did a hard reset -- Axim came up and said "erase all data" -- "yes" -- all
the WLAN drivers are built-in on the Axim, so I didn't have to reload
anything. Did not ActiveSync either, so the unit is theoretically factory
clean, right? Same deal, it won't fetch an IP address. But if I set it
to a static IP, then it works. We found the same thing with the other
problem PPC's -- set them to a static IP in the 10.0.0.x range of the AP
(outside the DHCP pool), and they work fine. This PPC "static IP fix"
seems to be confirmed by other NG posts with various other mfrs access
points...

Appears to be a problem with the new Proxim v2.0.0 March 2004 firmware.
When I downgrade to the old v1.0.4 November 2003 firmware, PocketPC's can
DHCP again...
