iPAQ 5555 & MS MN-700 Router/Base Station Questions

I am trying to add my new iPAQ 5555 to my home network.  The existing network: CableModem/MS MN 700 Base Station/3 wired PCs/2 wireless laptops/1 (wired) X-Box/4 shared printers.  WEP (strong) is enabled.  Everybody plays well together

Question 1:  If I set the iPAQ up with a "work" connection, it can access the network just fine.  I can map shares, print to shared printers, and ActiveSync, but CANNOT access the internet.  If I set the iPAQ up with an "internet" connection, I can access the internet just fine, but am no longer able to see the network.  In both cases, the iPAQ shows up in the MS Broadband Networking Utility.  What am I doing wrong here?  Is it possible for the iPAQ to see and access both the network and the internet on the same connection configuration

Question 2:  I have basically the same setup at another location (3 PC's, MN-500 Base Station, DSL Router).  Assuming I can get Question 1 (above) resolved, can that configuration, including the WEP key, be saved (as "Home", for example) and the second configuration also be saved (as "Work") so that I can simply select a saved configuration from a list and voila!

Question 3:  Building on the above 2 questions, I'm fortunate to live in a town (Charlottesville, VA) with abundant wireless hotspots, many of them free.  In fact, in one location I can choose from 8 WAPs!  Again assuming success with questions 1 and 2, could I then add another few configurations (minus the WEP keys, of course)to simplify and spped up connecting to these hot spots

Finally, is it generally quicker to activesync via the cradle/charger or over a wireless connection?  I have quite a few apps that rely on an internet connection for frequent updates (Journal Bar, AvantGo, etc.) and would love to be able to speed up the update times.  Thanks for taking time to read this post

Look at the Connection Manager settings. If you setup everything for "Work" then you can access the
public internet and the local LAN, including ActiveSync, via your wireless link...

Wireless ActiveSync is definitely faster than USB...

Al, you're a genius!  Worked like a charm.  Fantastic!  The link you provided is a GREAT resource
Just a couple of follow up questions

1.  Active Sync worked great (and fast!), but how did the iPAQ know with which PC to sync?  Just curious
2.  I assume that it'll work the same with my home network; that it will simply see a different wireless network and that the only (one-time) input required on my part will to be to type in the WEP key for that wireless network.  Correct
3.  Will I need to make any changes when it comes to connecting to public hotspots? (Since these would be for internet access only)

Thanks for all the help!
