Assigning IP Address

I can connect my Ipaq upto my wireless access point and it gets an IP
assigned from my router but the issue i have started when i installed
PocketWinc it can find my wireless access point but it doesnt assing an IP
address properly so cant browse.  It assigns  a totally wrong IP address
range.

Any issues why?

HP Ipaq - Pocket PC 2002
Linksys Wireless Access Point
Netgear Broandband Router

The ip is probably being assigned "from cache" or using a default ip
(169...?) from the registry.

Which AP?  some have firmware upgrades that update the ability to "see"
wince devices

Which card and driver (vendor/version)  Have found that the driver may
be responsible for not "presenting" to the dhcp server

One solution is to set the card to manual ip

start/settings/connections/networkadapt/<highlight>/properties

In many cases, the assigning of a wrong address in range 169.x.x.x is a
result of a wrong WEP key. You should check that by temporarily disabling
WEP on your AP and trying to connect.
