I have a Dell Axim X3, with PocketPC ver 4.20. Everything seems to work
fine. I purchased a WAP for my home wired network. Installed just fine. I
installed a Socket 802.11 adapter into my Axim and it connects fine .... for
a while. I used it last evening for about 20 minutes and lost the
connection. The device kept searching but couldn't find the WAP again. I
removed the Socket card and reinserted it. At that time it did not do the
automatic search for a connection any longer. I gave up and turned the Axim
off. This morning I turned it back on, reinserted the Socket card and it
still does not perform the automatic search for an available connection and
I can't get the device to connect at all.

Any ideas of why it drops the connection initially and then refuses to do a
search again. I'm not sure where to begin as the setup is in exact
accordance with the setup manual.

Have you soft reset your device?  I have found in some cases, if you haven't
soft reset the driver doesn't work right.

I use a Socket SDIO card in an Axim 3 also and had trouble getting it
to connect initially.  Contacted Socket and was told to check that my
router (Linksys) software was up to date.  Di d that and it it works
fine.

The soft reset issue I'm not sure of...usually removing and
re-inserting the card works.

Is ur software for ur wap current.

Also...where are you when trying to connect in relation to the wap?
Same room? How far away?

Not sure about the differences in connecting to a router and wap...I'm
new to this myself.

Once I got the intial problems reseolved it has worked fine and I'm
quite happy with it except for range...around my house the reliable
range seems to be less than 100 feet...maybe a limitation of the card
antenna.  I'm still playing with the placement of the router and
reflectors on the antennas.
