I had the same problem with my iPaq h5550 until I configured my WinXP PC as
the WINS server of iPaq. I typed in the local IP address [iPaq] -> Control
Panel -> Connections -> Connections -> Network card -> Name servers menu.
You can also do this with Zinnermann Pocket Hosts (
http://www.zimac.de/cestuff.htm ).
I'd also check that you don't have a hardware or software firewall causing
trouble, either blocking or interrupting synchronization.

Sometimes the pc and/or ppc need a reboot/reset. I ran into this problem
with my 4350 just yesterday. After killing activesync and resetting my 4350
everything was fine.
