Dell Axim X30 internet connection

My husband and I both have brand new Dell Axim X30's. Our
home network is a wireless network running with a Linksys
router. Quite by accident today, I pushed the Wireless
Connect button on my Axim, and the wireless connection to
our home network popped up, so I said okay. Great for me!
I played on the internet, had all kinds of fun, and then
tried to connect my husband's Axim later.

His Axim finds the network also, shows an Excellent
connection, but when Internet Explorer is open and he
tries to connect to ANY internet page, it tells him
something on the order of "Page not found" or "page
cannot be opened". This also occured when he had the Axim
in the cradle. He tried hard resetting the entire thing
and starting over. Now, he CAN get internet access from
the cradle (attached to his laptop, which runs over the
wireless connection), but again, not over the wireless
network via the Axim by itself.

I have compared all of our settings (of which he had
nothing unusual, especially after the hard reset). I did
nothing special to mine in order to access the wireless
network and internet.

Can anyone help with this?

So does your home network use any type of security? The security settings
may be messing you up.

This can because by a number of things, and without more info it is hard to
guess. You may want to double check your settings in connection manager, are
both units set to work? Or to Internet? When you look at your Home Network
is one set to the Internet and the other to work?

Another option is to go to www.cam.com and download the free program vxUtil
this will allow you to see the network settings your Axims are using, and
also vxIPConfig this program will allow you to release and renew the lease
on the Axims.

One check is do both Axims get the same IP address range, say both are
getting a 192.168.1.xxx address, as opposed to one getting a 192.168.1.xxx
and the other getting a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx address. This can tell us at what
point the connection is failing.

Go to www.aximsite.com and search using the term "power management."
There is a utility available that lets you disable Dell's power
management which, when it is enabled, tends to make the X30 unable to
connect to the Internet reliably. I've used it with my Axim and it
solved my "page not available" problems completely.

Good luck!
