My school has a wireless network.  To connect with a
laptop you need to download cisco vpn.  I have an IPAQ
3955 with a Socket SDIO Wireless card in it.  What do i
need to download or buy to access the vpn?  where can I
get it?

Someone, more than likely Eric Hicks (MS-MVP Mobile Devices), can correct me on this, but I believe
the Movian client is the only one available for the PocketPC that will let you connect to a Cisco
system. The downside is Movian is not going to be supplying or supporting the client in the very
near future...

I found MovianVPN, but as you said they are stopping
support on oct. 31st.  Also, the cheapest I could find it
was $55.  Thanks for your reply, and if anyone knows of
anything similar or of a place that i can get movian vpn
for cheaper, let me know.

Unfortunately the only other vpn client I know of only works for checkpoint
firewall.  Now that Movian is out of the picture I'm not sure what will
happen now.  $55 is a good price though, too bad other vpn clients don't
work with wm2003.

Ok, I can get the cd and license from my university for
$47.66.  Now my question is this; since they are
discontinuing the software, what happens once my one year
license is up?

No more support/updates I suspect. unless the program checks
the date and deactivates itself after the license period.
(This should be described in the manual, or you could ask
Movian about it)

Bill,
We have the same problem at my school. Pretty much all the schools that I've
looked at use (used) movian.

Hey Microsoft, Does this sound like an opportunity or what?

NCP (http://www.ncp.de/) also provide a VPN Access client called 'Secured
Entry Client'.  When Movian was going through its transition from public
product to SDK I started using NCP and have been very impressed with its VPN
hardware support and features.  When I last spoke with them they were in the
process of releasing a new version with many additional features, I'm not
sure if this has been released yet.

NCP will work with Cisco VPN if NAT-T is enabled if not then movianVPN is
your only solution today. MovianVPN is still available from worldnet21.
They currently do not support some of the newer PocketPC's with Windows
Mobike SE. They have a company updating the product which will be released
in March or April.
