I have a PIX 506 acting as a DHCP server. The internal interface is serving
up DHCP to wireless clients through a wireless Cisco Aironet 1200. The 1200
has no wep no security and completely open to the world. I can connect and
get an IP with a Palm PDA and any wireless Dell notebook. I have an Ipaq and
an Axim both running pocket pc and neither one will aquire an IP address. I
can see the traffic passing through the wireless and I see the binding of
the IP address to the PDA's mac on the PIX but the PDA never receive the IP.
I can static the IP on the PDA's and get out but it will not function using
DHCP. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Randy
Over the years, a number of different dhcp providers have had problems
"recognizing" windCE devices resulting in no dhcp ip being assigned.
There are several things that I have used over the years to deal with this;
simply assign the ip manually... if you know the upper limit of the PIX
assignments, pick an ip 25 or so above that and add the gateway and DNS
values.
update the firmware/software of the dhcp device. don't have a clue with
respect to the PIX, but this has worked with several routers in my case.
On the PPC side, the network drivers play a part... for example, a
netgear router couldn't "recognize" a sandisk card with sandisk drivers,
but it did see and assign to the same ppc and sandisk card running
socket drivers.
