I've installed the Linksys USB Bluetooth adapter (USBBT100) and it seems to
eork fine, the only problem i have is syncronizing my pocket pc through
active syncronize (3.7.1) and blue tooth. Active syncronize is just not
finding the com port that is available to the adapter, i get the message
"microsoft acive syncronize connot open the com port" and then it direct me
to the get connected screen which does not list any available com port.

You should look at the Bluetooth Driver of your adapter what port is being
used for the serial I/O and then set ActiveSync's Connection Settings (from
the File menu) to the same port.

thanks for the tip, but the problem i'm having is that my adapter driver is
using COM10 or 12 which is not listed in active syncronize serial port list
(in connection settings) all i have there is com3 (and a note saying com port
is not available).
thanks again

I suggest you try to see why the adapter took such high ports (usually it
takes COM4/COM5); is it possible that all the other ports are taken ???

If not, try to assign a port lower than COM10 to the Bluetooth Serial, then
you will be able to assign this port to Activesync.

I tried everything i know but i still can't change what com port the adapter
is assigning (it gives me the options between 10 through 12 only) how can i
change that or find out if the other ports are taken (i doubt it)

All I can think of is to go into the device manager and start deleting all
the COM ports there. Then turn on the BT so that it grabs the lowest
numbers. Your other devices will likely auto-create their COM ports later if
and when you need them.

in my device manager there are just 2 com ports which are the dapters ports
(com10 and com13) only.this is so frustrating and linksys customer service
was the least helpful, they have no idea what they talk about (beside getting
my e-mail and phone number)
thanks for helping

If you go into the BT setup on the PC and add a COM port manually, does it
let you create a lower COM port number?

in my device manager there are just 2 com ports listed which are the adapters
ports (com10 and com13), Linksys customer service was a waste of time, all
they know is how to get your e-mail and phone number (even the higher level
service technicians)

thanks for helping

Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware,Device Manager then expand the
"Ports (COM&LPT1)

Select  the standard serial over bluetooth link (COMXX), double click
it to select properties.

Click on Port Settings tab then Advance.

Bottom left, change the COMXX to COM5 even if it says its in use.

OK everything and go into ActiveSynch and select COM5.

From what you've said this should sort it but let me know?

There is no such thing as "port settings" or advance button in my device
manager.
