Does anyone have any ideas as to why I can ActiveSync over Wi-Fi only once
and then it won't find my PC anymore? The first time I try it during the
day, it generally works. Then if I try to sync again, even immediately
following the first sync, it tries to connect but can't.
This is on a home network, Netgear 802.11G equipment, with a Thinkpad T40
with built-in Wi-Fi.
BTW, I never have any other problems with Wi-Fi whatsoever. I can always
connect and get email and surf the net and use MSN without problems. So it
must have something to do with the WINS resolution or something like that.
Thanks,

Do you have NetBIOS enabled over TCP/IP on the PC?
Does your PocketPC name contain illegal characters?

In addition...is the PC an XP box and running the new SP2 Windows Firewall? I have seen a
few reports of folks needing to disable the firewall, ActiveSync wirelessly, then reenable
the firewall and sync wirelessly again.

Thanks for all your tips! I had renamed my PPC to Tim_PPC, but I now see
that is no good. So its now called TimPPC. I do have netbios enabled on my
wi-fi PC's connection. I do have WinXP SP2, but I have disabled the firewall
altogether.
I couldn't get this working right after I changed the name. Now its working.
And now a second time. So I thinks its more stable now, but maybe a bit
intermittent. I'll have to see over time.
Is there any utility software I can use just to test if the
//NICHOLSON-T-WXP name is being resolved properly? I hav vxUtils, but it
only recognizes IP's and names with DNS entries.
Sometimes I can get Resco Exporer to browse my network and map a drive and
sometimes not.

Are you synching with more than 1 computer?
If so you need to open Activesync on your ppc and go under tools then
options and select the computer name of which you want to sync via wifi and
it should work. Mine is the same way as I sync via cable on my work computer
and wifi at home.

I'm just synchronizing to one computer for now. Its a laptop I use both at
work and at home. Things seem to be better now that I renamed my PPC to
remove the "_" character.
