I asked a question earlier about Java enabled browsers. Based on the
response I am trying the Netfront with Java Lite for win 2003. I still
have a problem with the site I am going to requiring IE 5.0 or better or
Netscape 4.73 or better. Is there a way that I can make the web site
think that I am using one of those browsers? I am assuming that they
check to ensure it is java enabled. Any ideas? Thanks in advance..KCD
It's more likely the server checking the Agent String. Netfront allows you
to define multiple Agent String and select one for the site you're visiting.
Try creating one that identifies it as Internet Explorer 6.0.

I can't be sure how their site is coded, but some check specifically for
browser version as a lazy way to do things. You can hack the registry
following these instructions to have pIE look like the real IE. If it still
doesn't work, then you know it really is a java command not supported by
your browser. I don't know how to do this in Netfront, though.

Netfront is somewhat easier. There is a place in the Browser Settings (Misc
tab) that lets you define the "User Agent" string. It only has one defined,
but you can edit others to say whatever is appropriate.
