Hello all,

I just got an Ambicom WL1100-C Compact flash wireless card. I read great reviews of it, and it works with my handheld (Dell Axim X5) they said.

When I went to get the driver from the site, the site said that they no loger installed a configuration utility, that the OS did that. So I installed their driver.

Now, I can go to settings>>network adapters, and I see my card. But when I go to settings>>connections and try to make one, the only adapters it shows are COM1 and the infared... nor is there any utility that I can find to connect to an AP, set the SSID, etc.

Can someone help me???

Thanks a lot,

-Jack C

I use the same card with a HP iPAQ 2215 (same version OS as X5)
This is how I connect:
on the "Start" screen tap on the two arrows next to the speaker icon.
You should get a blurb called "Connnectivity" - tap on "Settings"
on the "Settings" screen tap on the "Advanced" box at the bottom
now tap the "Network Card" button
the "Wireless networks" box would show any available networks
(if you're lucky one of them could show "connected" and the light on
your Ambicom card would be steady)
If it shows a network "Available" hold your stylus down on it and then
select "Connect" from the two choices
On the same screen I use "Only access points" for "Networks to access:"
I also have "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks" enabled
These last two options depend on what you want to connect to.
At the bottom of the screen you'll also see "Network Adapters" - tap on
that and you should see your AmbiCom card listed there.
I have "My network connects to:" set to "The Internet"
Tap on "AMBICOM-WL1100X ..." for more settings.
Depending on what you want to connect to, you may have to do some fine
tuning.
I use mainly hotspots (Starbucks, McDonalds and also many of the free
hotpots
in NYC), also my Linksys WAP11 at home. If I don't get connected at a
hotspot
that I know is working, I try a soft reset. That helps in most cases. I also
have vxIPConfig installed, which shows you more detail and lets you renew
your IP.
Good luck!
