Multiple problems with the Windows Mobile wireless client  SSID/PE

I am working with an iPaq h4150 ROM v.1.10

Issue 1
Our wireless network does not broadcast the SSID, and policy prevents it
from being turned on.  When I try to manually the SSID, I get an error
because our SSID contains a '*' in it.  If I enable SSID broadcasting the
iPaq can correctly nab the '*' using SSID out of the air and connect to the
network.  As soon as I turn off the SSID though, that configured network
ceases to function.  The exact error I receive is, "A connection anme must
contain at least one letter or number and cannot contain any of the following
characters: |?*?<>|".  This is untrue, as every other device on our network
works just fine (including all of our other Windows products).

ISSUE 2
Our network uses, among other things, PEAP-MSCHAPv2, and is working
perfectly with WindowsXP.  When I try to configure PEAP I receive an error
stating that I do not have a certificate installed.  If I close that out, and
save the configuration anyway, the network authentication works just fine.
The issue I have is that I need to pare down the list of trusted root
certificates the wireless client will accept, and give the iPaq the specific
names of the authentication servers to trust just like I do in Windows XP.

On issue 1, you are using an SSID which doesn't go by the standards. The
message says it all. Some equipment accept such a name, but the rule is not
to accept it.
