I recently got an ipaq 5555 and PCMCIA Expantion pack plus, and i can't get
the ipaq to run from the expansion pack battery. The ipaq battery dies, and
i still have 100% on the expansion pack battery. Is there a setting to be
adjusted?.

Hi there,
I am running the same as you with a double expansion pack. The
explanation I got earlier was that the battery in the expansion only
serves as power for accessories used in the slots i.e. network card,
hard disk and so on, so it doesn't give more power to be used to run
the iPaq.
I don't that's what they told me.

I guess you're right about the 3600 series this is the 54xx or 55xx,
apparently they use power in a different way.

It would seem, from reading the manual, that there is no
provision for external power to the unit through the use
of an expansion pack so I would presume the previous reply
to be correct. The manual recommends that if extra power
is required, a spare battery be carried. The backup
battery in this particular unit will power it for up to 10
minutes, under optimal conditions, while the change of
main battery takes place.
I use the 3955 which can use an extended use battery
through the expansion pack. I am not sure, since I don't
have access to one, but I would think that the expansion
pack for the 3955 would fit the 5555 and would power the
unit from its extended battery. I will have an
opportunity in a couple of weeks to try this and will post
a note to let you know.
