I have an ipaq 3870, just upgraded to pocket pc 2003.  Can anyone recommend
the best storage expansion cards for use with it and a supplier in the UK?
Mainly want to start use it as a (slightly bulky) portable media player
after having a couple of bad experiences with an iriver player!!

Also any fav expansion packs, apps etc, and connecting it to a 3com wireless
ADSL router for remote net access at home?

Fraid I'll never get over the gadget freak in me :(

TIA

Trevor,

If you got the expansion sleeve with your 3870 you can use CF cards to
add a TON of content.  There are rather large CF microdrives that hold
up to (I think) 8gigs.  If you don't have the exp. sleeve you will be
using SD.  There are up to 2 gig cards out there but they get kind of
expensive.  I opted for a 1gig and the cost was not too much.  You can
get the SD cards at a ton of different places on the Internet and at
any electronics or camera store locally.  I buy my cards from Amazon
usually.

I think you are probably best to look on eBay.  The 3870 is an older
unit and your sleeve is going to be used for sure.  Of course, for the
cost of the sleeve you might be able to get a bigger SD card.  ;)  There
is no need for a sleeve for the SD cards.

Hmmm. That's strange.  Maybe you will need to format the SD card.  If
that still doesn't work you could try hard resetting your 3870.  I've
used a bunch of SD cards in many PPC's and haven't seen that.

Maybe even try using compressed air (for cleaning computers) to make
sure SD slot is clean.

I am having a similar problem
I got a 3850 and I have just tried inserting 2 different SD cards: 512mb and
1gb
I opened File Explorer, and there was no way of accessing those cards

Could there be a limit to the size of the SD card I can use?

There's not enough here to be able to give you much help. You really need to
give some relevant background info if you want help.  Did these cards read
in your ppc previously? Do they read in other devices? Do any cards work in
your ppc?

Both cards tested in Axim X3i
The 512 mb card was used ALOT with my digital camera
Neither have been tested with the 3850 before i got it from my friend and
flashed it with ppc2003
Also, my friend claims that he was able to use his 256mb card with the pda

Ok. SD cards can be troublesome- temporarily try a layer of sellotape on the
back of the card to make sure the contacts actually do contact. If that
doesn't help then try your friends card in it again to make sure the slot
really does function. If it does try a reformat of the card that wont read
using a standard FAT format in case that is the issue. Format in a different
pda or format through Windows- some kinds of devices can format the headers
slightly differently to normal so may not be readable in all other devices.
