Hello,

Can someone explain the difference between the two platforms as i have
to write an application that will work on pocket pc 2003 and ce 5.0.

from what i understand now i could create a ce 5.0 build and just
included certain api's etc to make it pocket mimic pocket pc 2003, am i
correct???

Am trying to get an idea from a development point of view how i can
port the application from one platform to the other??

Any ideas, articles, info, help etc etc would be great

thanks in advance

adam

suggest reposting at microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer

2003 and wm5 both use the same .net app environment... there are issues
such as wm5's problems with storage card file access and possible i/o
issues if hardware control is involved, but, anything written for 2003
should work on wm5

As Beverly suggested, questions about programming are more likely to
get useful answers if asked in a newsgroup for programmers, such as
microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer

This will help explain the difference between a platform (such as
Pocket PC) and a version of the base operating system (CE 5.0).

With some unsupported tricks, you _might_ be able to build for WM 5
for Pocket PC and have the result run on Pocket PC 2003. Much easier
to build for Pocket PC 2003 and have the result run on WM 5 for Pocket
PC.

This question is asked rather often, but in enough different ways to
make a google search tricky. I suggest checking a 30 Aug - 2 Sep 04
thread called "Windows CE 4.x Applications" in
microsoft.public.windowsce.app.development
