My friend got a Pocket PC T-Mobile MDA as a gift
Here its details
ROM ver: 1.01.01 GER
ROM DATE: 10/21/04
RADIO VERSION: 1.00.10
Protocol Version: 1337.36
Model Nr: PM10A
Platform: PocketPC

The language of the windows was German but my friend has no knowledge of
German, so I wanted to do him a favour. I downloaded an Englih ROM wm5 from
the net. I tried to upgrade from windows 2003 to wm5 using usb cable. Here are
the steps:

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/4343/installrom1.jpg

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/6169/installrom2.jpg

After these steps, A blue bar represeting the progress of upgrade appeared
but there were no progress, i stayed the same for some time then the
followinf error message appeared

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/13/installrom3.jpg

It says "USB" up the middle of the screen and down the middle it says "ver 1.
00"

I did soft boot and hard boot as well as pressing power button but the pocket
pc didn't respond so I removed the battery cover then put it back and pressed
power button, and it started with the same old origional version of German.

http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/457/img0508320x200.jpg

It asked me to tap the screen with the stylus

http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/479/img0511320x200.jpg

Then
http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/3526/img0512320x200.jpg

Then
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/715/img0514320x200.jpg

Localization
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/2483/img0515320x200.jpg

Then this message

Then this on too

Then the following programs started automatically from the extended  ROM

Here's a copy of the extended ROm config

again saying "USB ver 1.00".

I feel stuck in this horrible vicious circle not knowing how to get out.
Could anyone please help me. I'm so sorry to bother you. ;(

Try asking over in http://forum.xda-developers.com/.

Those guys specialize in ROM upgrades, and you'll get some good advice
there.
