Hello:
A bit confused as to why when synchronizing my iPAQ 3850, Microsoft
ActiveSync now identifies the device as WinCE. I'm fairly certain that up to
a couple of weeks ago ActiveSync displayed as PocketPC, but now even the
folder in My Documents has been changed to WinCE My Documents.
The OS version on my iPAQ shows Version 3.0.11171 (Build 11178), and the
version of ActiveSync on my Windows XP Pro PC is Version 3.7.1 (Build 3244)
Any idea what may have happened and how to correct the problem?
Thanks.... Mitch

I had the same problem just yesterday, except that I had given my iPAQ
3850 a name. So it is very clear that the name of my iPAQ and of the
My Documents directory both changed to "WinCE". Shortcuts to files
under "Xxxx My Documents" were, of course, broken.
When I came in to work this morning, the same thing magically happened
on my machine here as well. I'm guessing that the iPAQ somehow
signalled to ActiveSync that it's name had changed, and ActiveSync
obliged by changing the name of My Documents folder on the PC.

For some reason, it happened to me once with a Jornada 565 (it was
originally "Jornada_565"). I just changed the name back to the
previous one in Start/Settings/System/About/Device ID and that was it.
