Hi

I am new to this and have a question that is probably
really silly.

My Toshiba Pocket PC e335 crashed the other week. I had
always backed up on my PC through active sync and also
created full back-ups. However, when I re booted the
Pocket PC it would not recognise the original name given
to it (said it was already in use) which was backed up on
file? It did allow me to sync Outlook with no problem.
Now, a couple of weeks later, I have Outlook fully up-to-
date but have lost some files that were in the full back
up.

Can I retrieve the lost data? And, if not, how can I get
the full back up file back onto the Pocket PC if it goes
again

Regards

Andy

Sounds like a similar problem to the one I had with iPAQ and active sync.

In active sync you have to delete the old partnership, File/ Delete
partnership[.

After the hard reset ( I assume this is what you mean by re-boot?) and
connect the pda to the pc with active sync, it recreates the partnership
when you first connect with the re set machine.  Then you can restore from
the original backup.  At least with the an iPAQ and active sync, if you have
changed the regional settings on the PDA, you first have to re set the re
booted pda to the same regional settings as the backup was made in,
otherwise it will not recognise it as valid backup.
