Hi All

I was looking for how to read barcodes in background from a wifi reader
using VB6. my barcode scanner is a wifi reader. When reading, does the
incoming data goes to the COM port? even if there is nothing linked to the
COM port??

Can anyone point me to some tutorials on how to do this ? Also I would like
to learn about the process of reading from a wifi reader ??

Many thanks in advance.
Any help is too much appreciated.

Lavida,
It's going to depend on the barcode reader's drivers..  look for or download the mfg driver for the particular model barcode reader intended for your platform.  The port is going to be dependant on the reader itself, it may use a virtual port.  An installation of the drivers may be also required. Once you have the driver, in VB6 you'll be able to utilize their functions to open and read from the reader. If there are no drivers, then find out from the mfg what are the port settings; from there treat the device as a serial device and you will probably have to do additional programing here.  But I am pretty sure there would be drivers associated with the reader.... good luck

I would just use the scanwedge ( program that sends keystrokes ) to
the app.

Otherwise there will be samples in the sdk to do what you ask.

Many thanks for your precious replies.
a question for gidisat :  I looked for the "mfg driver" in google, in vain.
How could it be useful??
a question for Rj45   : Do I need to download / purchase this scanwedge??
and what does it do??
