which software i download

I ahve a smart phone but it doesn't have any cd and said that this phone
doesn't need other software .but i am having problem in connection.When I
connect phone to computer ,it cannect detect the device, not even as a mass
storage.How do I solve this problem?

The answer depends greatly on the model of the phone and version of
operating system on "computer". So you will get a more useful answer
if you provide that info.
