as I heard I can replace the wince.nls file in the windows folder with a version from a Japanese PDA (IPAQ 4150) in order to be able to read documents with Japanese characters. (Besides this I need some registry key and a new font file, but this is not the problem here).

I have exactly the same problem as Andrew Mawby has posted just above this ie: WHEN I CONNECT MY PDA IT ESTABLISHES A "GUEST" RELATIONSHIP and therefore won't synchronise properly.

Hope someone can tell me what's up here because I'm baffled. As the title suggests I'm having a problem syncing. I use my Axim for mostly reading e-books both (eReader and Adobe acrobat) and I do a lot of work on word then drag it across to my pc.

I experienced a major problems using ActiveSync 3.8 with an iPAQ 3970 and Windows Mobile 2003. PC is XPSP1, Office 2003 SP1, Exchange not installed. I don't want to synchronise anything, just intend to connect the PDA and the PC to add data in the SD memory or install programm.
